2012 gold sovereignThe new 2012 Gold Sovereign Coin is available now with a special design for this year only.

This one off gold sovereign has been released to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee year. The design on the reverse of the coin is an adaptation of the St.George and the Dragon.

As this is a unique design for 2012 only, to mark this year in our history, this coin is bound to be in great demand with collectors and is sure to be a valuable investment for the future.

Gold prices have experienced record breaking growth in the past few years and the demand for gold coins and in particular gold sovereigns has increased massively. Added to this the unique design of the 2012 gold sovereign means that that availability will be limited and stocks are likely to go fast.

The London Mint Office have stocks available right now with a saving of £10 off the official release price.

Over the course of 2009 gold prices have gone up and up. Just a year ago you could buy a gold half-sovereign coin on eBay for around £45, now (December 2009) as we go into 2010 prices are around double that.

However, gold coins are still a fantastic investment and if you have the cash to buy some then go for it.

I have been taking a look at some prices that gold sovereigns have been selling for recently on eBay.
